Cemetery & Parks Meeting
September 10, 2012
Kimball House

The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM present were, Ray Boyes, Tubby Boucher, John Barrett, Roger Rapoza and Roger Rapoza Jr.

Correspondence: Paul Sebring and Joan came to discuss Howard Park and the NM CC team. Paul brought pictures showing them marking the trees and roots on the trails to keep the team from getting lost in the park. They were also taking rocks and logs and putting them in the middle of the trails. This is an ongoing issue, seeing as last year there were empty spray paint cans found out in Howard Park. Discussed using signs to mark the trails vs. letting the team use spray paint. Then discussed about letters we have sent previously to the school and Leslie on conservation to explain the damage being caused. Location for putting up “no obstructing the trails” signs was discussed. Talked about having the athletic director to come to a special meeting on Sept. 24th at 7:00 P.M. Issue about Howard Park ended at 7:25 P.M. The Boy Scout bridge in Howard Park was then brought up by Paul Sebring, kids are taking rocks out of the bridge and have built an unnatural beaver dam. Discussed about talking to conservation about the “beaver dam” to see if we can repair/preserve the bridge. Paul and Joan left at7:31 P.M.

Bills were reviewed approved and signed.

Minutes of the August meeting were reviewed.  Tubby Boucher moved to accept the August minutes. All were in favor, the motion carried.

Superintendents Report: Discussion on a new mower, the quote was $4,250 dollars. The mower was voted in last meeting. Discussed about sealing the sidewalks at the Library with a product called “Salt Guard.” Discussed about moving trees from the upper common to better see Spaulding from 119 up by Cliff’s Café. Not an urgent matter. Discussed about planting elms on the upper common to provide symmetry. John suggested leaving the trees open for donation. Discussion of a new garage roof, Woolfrey wants $5,000 dollars for the job, Andy is going to talk to Nashoba Tech for an estimate. Talking about putting a metal roof on the Cemetery garage. If we had to, we have the funds to do it.
